Ye Vagabonds
Ye Vagabonds, brothers Brían and Diarmuid Mac Gloinn, are a staple of the vibrant and innovative live music and session scene in Ireland. Influenced by Irish traditional music, Appalachian singing, and the 1960s folk revival, they feature original songs as well as folk songs from the British Isles and US. Layering guitar, bouzouki, mandolin, fiddle, and harmonium under their exquisite vocal harmonies, “Ye Vagabonds make music that honours timeless sincerity with acoustic fireside storytelling that will sound as current a hundred years from now as it has a hundred generations past.” – Myles O’Reilly (Arbutus Yarns)
Growing up playing music together in the small town of Carlow in the southeast of Ireland, Brían and Diarmuid moved to Dublin in 2012, and quickly gained international attention with their videos and documentary “Seven Songs on Six Islands” by Arbutus Yarns’ music filmmaker Myles O’Reilly. By 2015, they were headlining sold out shows in Ireland, the UK, and Europe, and sharing stages with the likes of Villagers, Roy Harper, and Lisa Hannigan. Ye Vagabonds have won RTE Radio One and BBC Folk Awards, as performers and for their most recent album “The Hare’s Lament,” made numerous television and live radio appearances in Ireland, and were also part of “Imagining Home,” a live broadcast concert in the National Concert Hall of Ireland, curated by Glen Hansard, Philip King, and Gary Sheehan.
Lissa Schneckenburger
Inspired by her parents’ interest in folk music, Lissa Schneckenburger began playing fiddle at the age of 6. In 2001, she graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music with a degree in contemporary improvisation, and has been performing and teaching music around the world ever since. Schneckenburger is currently a member of the Brattleboro-based folk trio Low Lily.
