From the Page to the Stage: How a production comes to life

April 6 — LEBANON, NH — How are productions, and specifically, opera productions created? From the director’s first ideas and concept, through collaboration with set, lighting, and costume designers, to the rehearsal process with singers and conductor, to the realization of the performance on the stage, director Helena Binder takes you through the process of developing production and shares the experiences that result in what the audience sees on opening night.

An actor and director for 40+ years, Helena Binder’s productions have been seen at opera companies throughout the U.S., including New York City Opera, Dallas, Minnesota, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Palm Beach, among others. Named a Union Notable by her alma mater Union College, she holds an M.A. from NYU and studied at Circle in the Square. Director of Opera North’s “La Boheme” and “Macbeth,” she’s sat on the faculties of Union, Boston University, and New England Conservatory.

This class will be held Wednesday, April 6-27 from 1-3 p.m. Class will take place at One Court St. in Lebanon, NH. The course fee is $45. Register at bit.ly/PagetoStageOsher.
