Saturday, Oct. 30, 8 a.m. to noon — RUTLAND — The 16th annual Wheels for Warmth Tire Sale event is back this year. Established in 2005, Wheels for Warmth raises funds for provide emergency heating assistance to vulnerable Vermonters each winter; creates a resource of DMV-inspected tires that are deemed safe for at least one season of use, to be sold to Vermonters in need at reasonable prices; and provide a convenient, inexpensive way to dispose of unwanted tires, reducing the number of tires discarded in rivers or along our roadways. In 16 years, Wheels for Warmth has raised nearly $560,000 for emergency fuel assistance, sold more than 20,000 safe donated tires, and recycled more than 45,000 unsafe tires.
Make DMV tire donations Oct. 28 – Oct. 29 from 2 p.m. – 6 p.m at Casella Construction 125 Industrial Lane, Mendon. Inspections available. No donation charge for usable tires or $5 fee to be recycled.
Non-DMV tires are to be dropped off at BROC, 45 Union St., Rutland 9 a.m. -4 p.m. until Oct. 26. No inspection available. $5 per tire regardless of condition.
The tire sale is Oct. 30 from 8 a.m. to noon at Casella Construction 25 Industrial Lane, Mendon. Half price sale begins at 10 a.m. Tire prices vary from free to $30/tire.
