RUTLAND—Local artist Melissa VanGuilder has been helping transform a former mattress store into the ultimate game store. The new store, Two Ravens Games, opened its doors Wednesday, Oct. 6. The store is located at 165 Woodstock Ave. (Route 4) and carries tabletop games, miniature games, RPGs, card games and more. It also features space to try out new games and play with friends.

VanGuilder, owner of Mermonkey Tattoo, had to close her shop in 2021 for personal and medical reasons, and has found herself exploring other forms of artistic expression. She has been hard at work for weeks covering the walls of the store in various themed murals from castles and woodland fantasy to futuristic cities and bulkheads. She is currently working on murals in the game space. She worked with store owner Ed Larson to bring his vision to life, encompassing the different themes of the games offered at the store.
The press and public are invited to the grand opening celebration, to be held Oct. 23-24 with game demos, prizes, contests and entertainment.
Two Ravens Games is owned by Ed Larson of Poultney. Opening a game store has been a lifelong dream of his. A game store you want to come to shop at and play at and hang out in. A home for the gaming community in Rutland and beyond.
