Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 7:15 p.m. — RUTLAND — A song circle will be held Wednesday, Oct. 6, at the Godnick Adult Center, 1 Deer St. in Rutland, and virtually by Zoom, from 7:15-9:15 p.m. The song circle welcomes singers, players of acoustic instruments, and listeners.
The so-called Wild Woods Song Circle has gathered acoustic musicians and singers regularly since 1993 to share their music. While interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the song circle picked up again in July of 2020 with virtual gatherings over Zoom. A year later, with the easing of restrictions, Wild Woods commenced an alternating series of song circles including in-person with a Zoom option, and Zoom-only sessions.
Molly and Bruce Douglas took part in the Sept. 1 Wild Woods Music Co-op song circle combining in-person and Zoom participation.
The first Wednesday of the month, Oct. 6, will be a “hybrid” song circle, with in-person at the Godnick Adult Center but allowing participation by Zoom. Following state guidelines, there are no requirements for mask wearing or vaccinations for in-person participation, but masks are recommended for the unvaccinated. Those taking part fill out a form with basic information, but you only fill it out once. Gus Bloch has been running the Zoom portion of the session and Jack Crowther the in-person part.
On the third Wednesday, Oct. 20, the song circle will be by Zoom only, with those on the Wild Woods mailing list sent the link for signing in on Zoom.
The song circles are open to all. Participants may simply show up at the Godnick Center for the in-person song circle or call Jack Crowther at 775-1182 to get on the email list for each virtual song circle. Participants may also email Gus Bloch at gusbloch@gmail.com.
Participation is free. Donations are welcome to cover the cost of the Godnick Center rental and other expenses.
