Chandler Gallery presents ‘Changing Seasons: Innovations After 70

Unconscious bias focus of 2021-2022 gallery season

Oct. 3 – Nov. 6 —RANDOLPH — A new exhibit in the Gallery at Chandler Center for the Arts counters the bias that new ideas are mostly generated by the young, by showcasing artists who have been working for seven decades or longer. Titled “Changing Seasons: Innovations After 70,” the exhibit runs Oct. 3-Nov. 6 and is free and open to the public.

“Vermont has one of the oldest populations in the nation,” said Rebbie Carleton, who co-chairs Chandler’s volunteer gallery committee. “We are opening our gallery season by offering artwork done by this group to creatively counter the unwritten but pervasive bias that innovative and new ideas are the exclusive territory of the young and digital-focused. We look forward to sharing with our community the work of true innovators.”

Featured artists include Ria Blass, Alexandra Bottinelli, Paul Calter, Bob Eddy, Rachi Farrow, Joan Feierabend, Phil Godenschwager, Margaret Kannenstein, Ellen Langtree, Judith Lerner, Jim Robinson, and Martha Von Ammon. Their work is diverse. Painting, sculpture, collage, digital art, journaling, ceramics, and mixed media are all part of the show.

The exhibit opens Chandler’s 2021-2022 gallery season, which is devoted to looking at the unconscious biases we hold and reframing them through the arts in thought-provoking ways. Plans are underway to finish the season with a Social Justice Festival next summer.

Chandler Gallery is located at 71 N. Main St. in Randolph, and during exhibits is open from 12-5 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Tuesday throughFriday. The Gallery will open for a preview of Changing Seasons from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3. For more information, visit chandler-arts.org, email outreach@chandler-arts.org, or call 802-728-9878.
