Saturday, Sept. 26 at 1 p.m. — BRANDON — Otter Valley Union High School will induct its 2021 Otter Valley Hall of Fame at halftime of the Otters’ Homecoming football game this Saturday, Sept. 26, against Mill River. That game begins at 1 p.m.
This will be the eighth class inducted into the Otter Valley Hall of Fame.
Honorees are classified into distinct areas of service: Non-Athletic Teams, Athletic Teams, Coaches, Administrators, Athletes, Teaching Staff, Community Members and Support Staff).
The 2021 Hall of Fame inductees are: athletes Chris Raleigh, Chuck Charbonneau, Annie Griffin Bourque, Lacey French, Scott Gallipo, Apryle Pickering, Robert Read; the 1989-90 Varsity Nordic Skiing Champion Team; community members Sarah Gallipo and Fred Pockette; and support staff member Anne Bandy.
The football game’s halftime ceremony will last about 10-15 minutes and will include certificates given to the members of both the 2021 and 2020 classes, who were not publicly honored this past year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The 2020 Hall of Fame honorees were Tim Coates, Herb Spaulding, Steve Poljacik, Jodi Wheeler, Tammi Blanchard, Derric Miner, Mary Bushey, Meaghan Brown, Lawton Redman, the 1994-95 Varsity State Champion Softball Team, and David Mitchell.
The athletic event schedule for Friday and Saturday will include three other varsity games in addition to football.
The boys’ soccer team opens the weekend’s events on Friday by hosting Green Mountain at 4:30 p.m. on Markowski Field. Saturday’s events open with girls’ soccer hosting Mount St. Joseph at 10 a.m. on Markowski Field, and field hockey hosts Springfield at 11 a.m.
