Sunday, Sept. 12 at 4:30 p.m. — HARTLAND — The Moonlighters Big Band based in Hartland, Vermont, will be presenting a benefit concert for Aging in Hartland on Sunday, Sept. 12, at 4:30 p.m. The concert will be held outside at the gazebo behind the Rec Center at 19 Route 12 in Hartland. If the weather is inclement, the concert will be held at the Brick Church UCC at 10 Station Road in Hartland, pending any Covid-19-related updates.
The Moonlighters Big Band is a big band with 15-16 members. The band has been performing together since 1994 and has been a popular feature for dance and concert venues throughout the Upper and Lower Valleys of New Hampshire and Vermont, as well as central Vermont.
The Big Band era has made a huge resurgence in today’s music scene. The music of Glenn Miller, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Duke Ellington and many others are featured in each performance by The Moonlighters. The band’s fantastic brass section consists of three trombones, three trumpets, five to six saxophones and clarinets, a bass guitar, sometimes a rhythm guitar, keyboard and drums. Listeners will be transported back to an earlier time, when rhythms were easy to follow, the lyrics were simple and the melodies were lovely. The Moonlighters Big Band features three vocalists, all with different styles which add to your dancing and listening experience.
The public is invited to come and enjoy the music. Donations will be accepted at the event to support the Community Nursing Program. The Aging in Hartland Community Nurses provide case management and referrals for residents 60+ facing temporary or permanent challenges to living in their homes. Refreshments will also be for sale. Whether this is an inside or outside event, attendees are asked to abide by current CDC guidelines. Please bring your own chairs or blankets.
