RUTLAND — Last Friday, Chaffee Art Center hosted its BenchArt unveiling. Rutland mayor David Allaire, Downtown Rutland Partnership director Nikki Hindman and Chaffee Art Center executive director Sherri Birkheimer Rooker spoke about how this project will help further enhance the streets and culture of Rutland.
Artists, sponsors and communtiy members mingled on the center’s lawn drinking wine awaiting the presentation. After a “One, two, three,” everyone unveiled the artist-rendered benches in one collaborative swish.
To add to the fun, all were asked to guess who painted which bench.
The BenchArt project is one of Chaffee’s 2021 fundraisers. Currently, 23 of the 42 benches have been sponsored.
