Touring Killington’s new Public Safety Building

By Robin Alberti

Officer Michael Hoffman, who has been with the Killington Police Dept. for 4 of his eight years as a police officer (prior to that he was a paramedic for 30 years), gave winter resident, Ron Kish, a 33 year veteran of the New Jersey police force a tour of the new Public Safety Building on Tuesday, Aug. 10. The shared building houses Killington’s Police and Fire Departments as well as Killington Search and Rescue (KSAR). The building has room to expand the local police force, which now consists of two full time officers, Mike Hoffman and Whit Montgomery. Currently an answering service for the state police handles most law enforcement calls in Killington, but there is a dispatch room for that to happen locally. There is also an interrogation room with a two-way mirror. Another asset of the new building is a large Community Room with a full kitchen. The facility is a well-designed, modern, multi-use/functional space — a true asset to the Killington community, public safety personnel agree.
