Two staff at RRMC named 2021 Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician of the year

RUTLAND—The Vermont Society of Health-System Pharmacists (VTSHP) recently announced its 2021 Pharmacist and Pharmacy Technician of the year, honoring two practitioners from Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Saisha Branchaud, PharmD, BCPS, the director of pharmacy services, was named the 2021 Pharmacist of the Year. She was recognized for her “steadfast leadership” during the past year and for stepping up to serve on the frontline during the Covid-19 vaccine roll out.

Sara Miles, certified pharmacy technician, was named 2021 Pharmacy Technician of the Year. She was recognized for being the “glue that keeps our pharmacy together” as well as taking a lead role in staff education and process improvement with Covid-19 vaccinations.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, Pharmacy Services provided dynamic support to Rutland Regional’s providers, nurses, and other clinical colleagues. They implemented new processes to support the needs of the organization during the Covid-19 vaccination process which helped to expedite getting the vaccine out to the broader community.

“Under Saisha Branchaud’s leadership, our pharmacy has become one of the most progressive pharmacy departments in the state of Vermont,” said Jonathan Reynolds, vice president of clinical services. “And Sara Miles played a vital role in the evolution of pharmacy technicians within the department and did so with dedication.”

The nominations were submitted in April of this year and reviewed by the board of directors for VTSHP. Honorees have demonstrated their service to the pharmacy profession, contribution to pharmacy programs, their ability to cooperate and collaborate across the entire healthcare team, and for their service to the community.
