For most people, the ski season is over. If you live anywhere other than the Killington-area, that is. (And even many locals have shifted their goals to spring and summer pursuits — fishing, mountain biking, golfing or even yard work.) The fact is, most have other things that come to mind first when it’s pushing 70 degrees. But in the town of Killington, you’ll still find those among us that know the season is still going strong. In fact, we might get up to a foot of snow this weekend. (That’s a big “might.”)
But, to celebrate what was probably the final weekend that casual enthusiasts will drive up from down South to ski and snowboard — Killington Resort put together one last “All-Out Weekend” April 10-11, featuring the first live music of the season. Local legends DJ Dave Hoffenberg and Duane Carleton played, freebies were given for fabulous outfits, Bud Light Seltzer specials were served, and food from Rollin’ Rooster made the event one to remember. For a season like no other, it was, as advertised, a party for all time.
Following last weekend, The Beast has significantly reduced lift capacity— even its squad of groomers is no match for Mother Nature’s warm spring rays. By Saturday, mandatory dirt slides were required to ride the Dreammaker park. While the season is finished on Bear, it continues at Ramshead with a Peace Park rebuild, now featuring a snake run and mini pipe.
And if park is not your thing, K1 remains great with top-to-bottom coverage and Superstar will run through at least May 2… maybe longer. Spring is a daily party, “All Out” or not, so we hope to see you out there!
