The Peace Park on Ramshead offers something for everyone

Killington’s freestyle facilities have always been world-class.  Snowboarder Magazine even awarded Woodward Killington Mountain Park with the prestigious Best Terrain Park in the East award for 2020. This year, under the watchful eye of Parks Supervisor Taylor Zink, it’s possible they are even better than last. The cherry on the sundae is Peace Park, located on Ramshead.

Peace Park was founded in 2011 by X Games Gold Medalist Danny Davis. Davis created it to be a new type of on-mountain experience that reinvents freestyle terrain with a focus on fun and flow. Peace Park began as a secret “pros only event” to experiment with new types of terrain and transition combinations. Today’s Woodward Peace Park expands on Danny’s original vision by making a version that is open to the public.

“When Danny created Peace Park in 2011, he believed that people who could freely and creatively express themselves doing what they love in the outdoors were as close to achieving peace as possible, hence the name Peace Park,” Woodward Killington says on its website.

The Woodward Killington crew did not disappoint. Peace Park flows, and my personal favorite part is it that it strikes a perfect balance between getting a ton of air time or none at all. How one chooses to ride the features is totally up to them and the options are endless.

“Peace Park is one of the best places to ride,” Killington Mountain School Snowboard Program Director Devon Gulick said. “Anyone can have a blast in there whether you’re newer to park riding or a seasoned veteran. There are so many transitions to carve or roll over, small and medium jumps, and some really fun rails. Park crew really crushed it this year in providing a space where such a large demographic of skiers and boarders can come have fun and get creative.”
