Police investigate deadly crash

On Monday, Jan. 11 at 6:40 p.m., troopers from the Vermont State Police – Rutland Barracks responded to a two-car head-on collision on Route 4 in Mendon.

Preliminary investigation revealed Thomas Yuri Savransky, 23, of New York, New York, was traveling westbound on Route 4 in a GMC  Yukon, when he crossed the center line and crashed head on into a Chevy Silverado driven by Tyler Whille, 33, of Killington.

Savranski was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center (RRMC) where he later succumbed to his injuries.

His passenger, Tiger Chen, 26, also of New York, New York, was transported to RRMC for non-life-threatening injuries.

Whille was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center before ultimately being transported to UVM Medical Center, for life threatening injuries.

This incident remains under investigation.
