Saturday Dec. 5 at 5:30 p.m.—CASTLETON—The Castleton Woman’s Club will once again collaborate with the Castleton Free Library to help light the Tree of Remembrance in Castleton. For the second year in a row, the tree lighting will be a little different, but the lights will be lit throughout the holiday season. The tree will be lit on Saturday, Dec. 5 at approximately 5:30 p.m. Plans are currently underway for a variety of community events that evening. However, due to the pandemic, members of the Woman’s Club will not be sponsoring its annual cookie and cocoa reception inside the library.
The tree will be lit with hundreds of bulbs in remembrance of loved ones who are no longer with us. Lights may also be purchased to honor loved ones as well. Anyone can send in names of those they wish to honor or memorialize during the 2020 holiday season. There is no limit to the number of honorees and any donation is gratefully accepted.
Due to the pandemic, we will not be making forms available throughout the community. Forms will be available at the Castleton Free Library or you can participate by doing the following;
List the names of those you wish to honor (for example essential workers or a mentor)
List the names of those you have lost and want to remember
Make sure you write your name, your address, and your phone number in case we need to contact you for clarification
Include a donation of any amount (checks are to be made out to Castleton Woman’s Club)
Mail all the information to Charlotte Capron, 201 Norton Ave., Poultney, VT 05764
The Castleton Woman’s Club uses donations to help fund local scholarships. Any names sent in by Dec. 31 will be listed in an article published in local newspapers.
