Police investigate shooting in Rutland

By Katy Savage

Rutland City Police are investigating an apparent shooting on Strongs Avenue.

Chief Brian Kilcullen said police were called after multiple gun shots were fired from a vehicle near Avellino Bakery and Catering around 5:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3.

He said they believe no one was injured and the dept. had no suspects as of press time.

Kilcullen said late Monday that he spoke to a witness who said the shots may have been fired from a dark-colored sedan.

“That’s about all we’ve been able to get at this point,” Kilkullen said.

Kilcullen said he did not believe there was any threat to the public.

“We believe this was a specific target,” Kilcullen said, explaining the gun shots were likely directed to one of the apartments on Strongs Avenue.
