On July 18, youth ages 8-18 are invited to take part in the virtual Sheep and Goat Camp 2020, sponsored by University of Vermont (UVM) Extension 4-H.
The free camp, offered through Facebook Live, will run from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Participants do not need to be enrolled in 4-H, just have an interest in broadening their knowledge of sheep and goats.
Presenters are Jill Merkel, owner of Hestholl Icelandics in Richmond, who will give a presentation on “Stop the Bleed,” providing information on what to do in an emergency.
Siri Swanson of Yankee Rock Farm in Orwell will discuss what necropsy is and offer tips on showmanship to help youths excel in the show ring.
To register, go to go.uvm.edu/sheepgoatcamp.
To request a disability-related accommodation to participate, contact Wendy Sorrell, UVM Extension 4-H livestock educator and camp organizer, at (802) 651-8343, ext. 531, or wendy.sorrell@uvm.edu by July 10.
