The BROC Community Action Covid Relief Fund recently received $1,134.06 raised by Spring Lake Ranch, it announced June 17.
Cassie Cohen, an optimistic community member with a strong desire to run the Spring Lake Ranch trails thought it might be nice to “gather a few people to run with me on the trails.” Out of her interest, along with Ella Hayslett-Ubell, their organizational efforts came the first annual Ramp it Up all ranch 5/10k run.
Spring Lake Ranch Therapeutic Community has been impacted by Covid “Stay at Home” orders just as most households around the country have been with one big difference; the size of their household is over 50 people. Due to their inability to travel out into the greater community for several months, they had a few creative and energetic minds at work finding ways to keep their spirits up and intentions positive.
The community rallied and soon it became a fundraising event to support BROC Community Action’s Covid relief efforts. There were t-shirts created by community members, participation medals, ramp fabric made into buffs and a delicious BBQ featuring ranch raised beef.
Tom Donahue, CEO at BROC Community Action, said that all the funds raised will be directed to assist local people in need during this difficult time in their lives.
“We are grateful to the good folks at Spring Lake Ranch for creatively supporting the needs of our most vulnerable Vermonters,” Donahue said.
