Signs promote social distancing, #onekillington

Killington joins others in sign campaign

KILLINGTON—The Killington Pico Area Association (KPAA) is pleased to announce the arrival of Killington’s very own Covid-19 public service announcement lawn signs.

KPAA Executive Director Mike Coppinger, explained: “Many communities across Vermont, and I’m sure the country, have similar community health and welfare signs. We felt it would be fun to put our own Killington spin on similar signs.” Coppinger added, “They are in no way meant to make light of the serious nature of proper distancing practices.” The hope is to inject a little humor into a challenging and stressful situation while still promoting the governor’s and CDC’s important guidelines during this crisis.”

The KPAA’s communication committee came together under Coppinger’s direction to brainstorm special distancing signs. The other goal of the project is to promote the #onekillington tagline. The messaging behind #onekillington is that whether people live, work, play, or aspire to be here, the community is called to help keep positivity alive during these difficult times.

“We are and always will be One Killington,” said committee chair Merisa Sherman. “The Communications Committee wanted to focus on the things that unite our community.”

The social distancing sign project is the first of many in the #onekillington campaign.

The Social Distancing in Killington signs produced up to this point are: Stay one Bear Away, Stay One Mountain Bike Away, Stay One Gondola Away and Stay One Ski Away.

Coppinger said: “We really can’t thank Vince and Carla at Boss Office Works enough, who printed the signs for us at-cost. Also, Killington Resort, Vermont Strong and The Killington Group for donating the funds for the first production run.”

This project was only intended to have one run, with signs going out on KPAA member business lawns. However, due to overwhelming interest the KPAA will be offering a second batch of signs for purchase starting this week. “We are asking for a $10 donation and the proceeds will go to support the Killington Relief Fund to help feed community members adversely affected by the crisis,” said Coppinger.  For more information visit killingtonpico.org.
