Test yourself at the Pico Skimo endurance race

Sunday, March 14 at 7 a.m.—KILLINGTON—“Skin Up. Ski Down. Repeat.” That’s the motto for Pico Skimo, The Endurance Society’s uber-challenging ski race on Vermont’s Pico Mountain. In line with many of the society’s events, Pico Skimo is cyclical, an equal feat of mental and physical dexterity.

This year’s course  will offer two distance options:

Single Climb involves 2,000 feet of vertical gain. Finishers receive a custom medal. Three Climbs covers 6,000 feet of vertical gain. Finishers will receive a custom medal. (4 1/2 Hour Cutoff for award). This race will feature a tour to Killington and back plus a boot pack section on the old Appalachian Trail.

There will be an Alpine Touring Division, Telemark Division, and Splitboard division. Everyone will race together but results will be categorized based on the equipment you race with. For safety reasons, we will use a “soft” finish at the base.

Online pre-registration is open at The Endurance Society. It costs $25 for Single Climb or Two Laps and $45 for Climbs. Results will be listed and top finishers will receive a unique award.

Please note: Anyone interested in earning points for USSMA must be participating in the 3 Lap Option.

Helmets are required for all competitors. There is no stashing food or water allowed and you must pack and carry your own gear. This is a self-supported race including food and water; there will be a jug of water at the base of the mountain. You must pack your skins vs. skiing down and holding them in your hands.
