Man arrested for attempted robbery

A Fair Haven man was arrested after an attempted robbery at Terrill Street Beverage in Rutland around 3 p.m. on Jan. 12.

Rutland City Patrol Officers said John Barsalow, 29, handed the store clerk a note in an attempt to get money.  He was unsuccessful and fled on foot.

RPD Patrol Officers, along with assisting units from the Vermont State Police immediately checked the area for the suspect and were unable to locate him.

Shortly after the robbery, Barsalow was located on River St. in Rutland City and subsequently arrested.

During the investigation, items and clothing worn in the robbery were located and seized as evidence.

Barsalow was lodged at Marble Valley Correctional Center on $1,000 bail.  He will be arraigned on Jan. 13.
