An off-duty Vermont State Police trooper was arrested for DUI in Rutland Jan. 6. Officer Misty Klementowski of the Rutland City Police Department arrested Craig Roland for DUI on Deer Street in Rutland City around 6 a.m.
A roadside breathalyzer was administered with a resulting BAC of .189 — more than twice the legal limit of .08, according to police. Roland was taken into custody and processed at the Rutland City Police Department for DUI.
A statement from Vermont State Police said Roland has been placed on paid administrative leave, following protocol under the collective bargaining agreement with the Vermont Troopers’ Association. An internal investigation will be conducted. The case was sent to the Rutland County State’s Attorneys office who will contact another State’s Attorneys office to review the case. Vermont State Police are also conducting an internal investigation. Roland was hired in January 2017 and worked for the Rutland Barracks.
