Killington church to get new roof

Mission of the Church of Our Saviour in Killington will get a new roof with the help of a  $20,000 matching grant from The Vermont Division for Historic Preservation and the Vermont Advisory Council on Historic Preservation.

Mission of the Church of Our Saviour was one of 16 projects that will be funded by the state. Together the grant awards totaled $217,166.

These grants will leverage more than $580,000 in restoration and rehabilitation efforts.

A total of 52 applications this year were received requesting a total of $753,565 in grant funding.

Grants awarded this year will support window repair and restoration work at the American Precision Museum in Windsor, the Ilsley Public Library in Middlebury, St. James Episcopal Church in Arlington and the Swanton Public Library. Other projects include masonry and interior restoration work at the Old Labor Hall in Barre and masonry and flashing repairs at the Fairbanks Museum & Planetarium in St. Johnsbury, and roof projects in Bethel, Brandon and Killington.

The Division will also hold a formal ceremony to recognize recipients of both the 2020 Historic Preservation and Barn Preservation Grants in the Cedar Creek Room this spring.
