Climate Talks in Rutland and Middlebury

Sunday, Jan. 5 at 3 and 4 p.m.—Those interested in learning more about climate change and how to fight it have two opportunities to do so on Jan. 5. 350 Vermont will host it’s Rutland County meeting at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 117 West St. in Rutland. They’ll be discussing their work to reduce food waste and to increase the use of mass transit/bicycling/accessibility. Reducing food waste is #3 on the list of the most effective ways to reverse climate change. It would reduce carbon dioxide by 70.53 gigatons by 2050. Increasing the use of mass transit would reduce carbon dioxide by 6.57 gigatons by 2050. The meeting goes from 3-5 p.m.

Meanwhile in Middlebury, Extinction Rebellion will be giving a presentation on current climate change science and learn about Extinction Rebellion’s approach to action at 4 p.m. Ready to get involved? This presentation will be followed by an open general meeting  at 5:45 p.m., where we will plan and organize ourselves for bold action. Come to one or both parts! This is a free event, held in the Ilsley Library meeting room, 75 Main St. in Middlebury.
