Killington Resort is getting a new base lodge.
Killington President Mike Solimano announced the new base lodge was coming in addition to a number of other improvements in a Thursday night presentation.
The new 58,000 square foot lodge will be constructed in front of the existing 37,000 square-foot lodge. Similar to the Peak Lodge, the building will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, offering 180-degree views of the mountain. The building will be three stories high with a full-service bar, a food court and a large fireplace.
Phase one of construction will start in May 2019, in front of the existing K-1 Base Lodge to be on the same grade as the K-1 Express Gondola. During summer 2020, the existing base lodge will be removed and phase two of the new building will be completed.
The new lodge was just one of the improvements Solimano mentioned. He also said a new four-person chairlift will replace the North Ridge Triple next season, a new magic carpet will be constructed to enhance the beginner area and Pico will see major snowmaking improvements.
“Building on last year’s investments, and combined with the other infrastructure enhancements and new experiences, these upgrades set the tone for future generations to enjoy Killington resort. Killington is undeniably the Northeast’s hub for year-round adventure,” Solimano said in a news release.
