Tuesday, April 24, 9:30 a.m.—RUTLAND— Come celebrate! On Tuesday, April 24, BROC Community Action and Same Sun of Vermont will host an Earth Day event celebrating the completion of the largest rooftop solar array in downtown Rutland. Join the celebration at 45 Union St., Rutland from 9:30-11 a.m.
The collaboration with Same Sun, USDA Vermont Rural Development and Green Mountain Power, 213 (290 watt) rooftop solar panels are soaking up the sun which will save BROC Community Action nearly a quarter million dollars over their useful life (30 years) and offset nearly 56,000 pounds of carbon pollution per year.
There will be entertainment by local first graders “Clean Up Kids,” Earth Day giveaways and a drone fly-over of the finished product. This free event is open to the public.
