RAFFL meets fundraising goal for new van

RUTLAND—Thanks to contributions from family, friends, and community members, the Rutland Area Farm and Food Link has met its fundraising goal to acquire a gently used van for the Glean Team. The organization raised $1,500 through Facebook and its website, with $1,000 matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
In January RAFFL will put a downpayment on the cargo van.
Through volunteer assistance, produce and fresh breads that would otherwise be wasted or composted are harvested from farms and markets, and then delivered to 21 different organizations, shelters, pantries and schools.
The Rutland Area Farm and Food Link works to build connections for a strong agricultural economy and healthy community. Through five core programs, RAFFL addresses the areas of food insecurity, food education, small farm business and market support in the Rutland area and beyond.
