320 bags of heroin seized in traffic stop

SHARON—On Dec. 16, at 1:16 p.m. state police stopped a silver 2007 BMW with Vermont plates for speeding near the Sharon rest area on I-89 North. During the stop the occupants were identified as Jonathan Alvarez, 27, and Ryan Mohr, 32, both from New Haven, Conn.
A state police K9 was deployed and detected the odor of narcotics. Police then searched the vehicle and located 320 bags of heroin.
During the initial attempt to stop, Alvarz indicated that he consumed 2 grams of cocaine. Alvarez and Mohr were lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield, Vt., in lieu of $100,000 bail. They face charges of heroin possession, heroin tracking, heroin transportation, and conspiracy to sell heroin.
