Troopers respond to fatal accident on Route 22A in Benson

BENSON—A New Jersey man died from injuries resulting from a crash in Benson, Vt. last week. On Monday, troopers from the Rutland State Police Barracks responded to the site of a single vehicle crash on Vt. Route 22A, near the intersection of North Cross Road.
According to police, Doris and John Leffler of Sparta, N.J., were traveling south when the 2008 Toyota Highlander left the right side of the roadway and struck several trees before rolling onto its roof. Both occupants were wearing seatbelts, and airbags were deployed.
The passenger, John Leffler, sustained critical injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Doris Leffler was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.
