Triple crash results in death

BRIDGEWATER—A 62-year-old Bridgewater resident died from injuries resulting from a three-car accident this past Tuesday, Nov. 29. Vermont State Police were notified of the crash on Route 4 in Bridgewater near Pearson Road.
At the time of the crash there was freezing rain and the road surface was partially covered in ice. Bridgewater resident Susan Cadwell Brown was traveling west on Route 4 in Bridgewater. While entering a curve, Cadwell Brown lost control of her Ford 500 and crossed the center line into the eastbound lane of a tractor trailer truck, driven by Cecil Madison of Herkimer, N.Y. Madison attempted to swerve left to avoid Cadwell Brown, crossed the center line into the westbound lane and struck a Ford F-350, driven by Robert Ammel, Jr., of Hartford, Vt. Ammel, age 62, who was pronounced dead on scene. Cadwell Brown and Cecil Madison were checked by ambulance and released from the scene. This crash remains under investigation.
The Windsor County Sheriff Department, Vermont State Police and Vermont Dept. of Motor Vehicle officers responded to the crash.
