ShackletonThomas opens doors for holiday open house

Saturday, Dec. 3 at 3 p.m.—BRIDGEWATER—The ShackletonThomas holiday open house, a favorite annual community event to kick off the holiday season, returns this year on Dec. 3, 3-6 p.m., in its usual location at the historic Bridgewater Mill, Route 4, Bridgewater. All are invited as they open their workshops and showroom to celebrate community and the practice of making beautiful things together.

As in past years, there will be pottery activities for all ages, crown-making for kids, woodworking and pottery demonstrations by ShackletonThomas craftspeople, and community partners showcasing their own goodies. Live music this year will be provided by local fiddle sensation Ida Mae and her band The Terrible Mountain Mother Pluckers.

Also this year, a special holiday pottery sale exclusively at the event takes 15 percent off all in-store pottery for open house guests. (This offer excludes gallery pieces and orders). ShackletonThomas products have been featured by Vogue, the LA Times, Town & Country, and GQ, among others. Featured clients include the Schwarzeneggers, Leonard Stern, the Chicago Botanical Gardens, Robert Redford, and Susan Sarandon. Miranda Thomas has been commissioned by both the Obama and Clinton administrations, as well as the United Nations Association of New York, to create diplomatic gifts and commemorative pieces. Former President Bill Clinton presented a Miranda Thomas peace bowl to Pope John Paul II in 1999. Shackleton and Thomas now lead a team of master potters and furniture makers in Bridgewater, who make each product individually from start to finish. The workshops produce an array of iconic lines, available in-store and by order, as well as custom design services and personalized commemorative pieces.
