Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m.—RUTLAND—What do Vermont and Iceland share beyond an abundance of natural beauty? Both face similar energy challenges: a chilly and cloudy climate and no fossil fuel resources. Come to the Energy Innovation Center Tuesday, Dec. 6, as Castleton University’s Dr. Helen Mango offers a fascinating and informative energy presentation.
This free public event begins at 5:30 p.m. and lasts approximately an hour. Light refreshments served.
Mango has made several visits to Iceland. She will share her research and observations, examining the similarities and differences in renewable energy production in Iceland and in Vermont, and considering what one region can learn from the other.
Mango is professor of geochemistry and geology coordinator at Castleton University. She received her undergraduate degree in Geology from Williams College, and her Masters and Ph.D degrees in geology from Dartmouth College.
The GMP College Connections lecture series was created as part of an agreement between GMP and all four Rutland County colleges to work together to bolster economic, educational and community development. Talks are authored and presented by faculty from each of the institutions. The presentations explore a variety of energy issues, including the science of energy, renewable power, financial concerns and the psychology of energy use. All talks are held at GMP’s Energy Innovation Center in Rutland the first Tuesday of the month.
