Saturday, Nov. 26 at 6:30 p.m.—RUTLAND—Santa Claus is, in fact, coming to town. On Nov. 26, Santa joins the community of Rutland for the official downtown Christmas tree lighting at 6:30 p.m. in Depot Park, at the corner of Merchants Row and Center Street. This year is extra special since organizers have planted a tree that will grow bigger and bigger every year. Enjoy a night of caroling, hot chocolate, goodies, special 3D glasses and the opportunity to meet Santa at this community tradition kicking off the holiday season.
Immediately after the tree lighting, follow Santa down Center Street to the Paramount Theatre where kids can sit on Santa’s lap and express their holiday wishes. Parents, don’t forget the camera for this photo opportunity. The Paramount will show two short children’s Christmas movies starting at 7 p.m., free of charge, on the big screen: “Alvin and the Chipmunks: A Chipmunk Christmas” followed by Charles Shultz’s classic “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”
