Holiday food applications are due by Dec. 1

LUDLOW—The staff of Black River Good Neighbor Services has announced that they are accepting applications for the 2016 holiday food basket program. They ask that completed applications be submitted by Dec. 1.
Food Program Administrator Krey Kellington and the entire BRGNS staff are eager to see that no person or family goes without food, and no child goes without a gift to unwrap during the holidays.
“Last year a lot of area families received food through our holiday program and we believe that the number will probably increase again this year. Even though the economy has significantly improved, there are still too many unemployed and underemployed individuals who need our help. There are also far too many seniors trying to live on far too little income. We want to make the holiday season a little brighter for all of them,” said Kellington.
Qualified individuals and families living in Ludlow, Proctorsville, Cavendish, Mount Holly, Belmont or Plymouth need only stop by Black River Good Neighbor’s food shelf and thrift store at 37B Main St. in Ludlow to pick up an application, download the application from the BRGNS website at brgn.org, or call 228-3663 to find out about eligibility.
Even if a family or an individual received a food basket in past years, they must complete a new application this year. Said Kellington, “We ask clients to reapply so that we can allocate our resources to the right people. It is an easy process and we are here to help.” Those people who are unable to get to the store may call 228-3663 for assistance.
