New schedule announced for Passages at the Paramount

Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m.—RUTLAND—The Paramount Theatre will present its ninth annual Passages at the Paramount Series on new days and at new times: all concerts will be held Sundays at 3 p.m. for each of the four concerts in the series. In addition, the series will now be titled The Passages at the Paramount – Young Concert Artists Series.
Bruce Bouchard, director of the Paramount, commented, “We have been so very proud and happy to have presented 28 fabulously talented young classical musicians at the very beginning of their formidable soloist careers. The relationship with Young Concert Artists has been a terrific one and has fed us a steady stream of some of the most accomplished young musicians in the world. We have a very loyal audience, but have struggled in our attempts to grow the attendance. Responding to input from our diehard Passages fans, we have decided that by moving each concert to Sundays at 3p.m. it might be a more user friendly time and therefore more accessible, particularly given that the VSO audience is used to the Sunday afternoon concerts.”
The ninth annual series will open on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 3 p.m. with the Zorá String Quartet. The quartet—which features violinists Dechopol Kowintaweewat and Seula Lee; violist Pablo Muñoz Salido; and cellist Zizai Ning—won the Grand Prize and Gold Medal of the 2015 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, the 2015 Coleman National Chamber Music Competition in California, and the 2015 Young Concert Artists International Auditions, where they were also awarded the Sander Buchman Award, which provides major support for their New York debut, and five concert prizes.
The Zorá Quartet aspires to educate individual students, serve as mentors for collegiate-level string, and initiate outreach projects in Bloomington to introduce new audiences to chamber music. The Zorá has worked with the non-profit organization Reimagining Opera for Kids and performs at the Wylie House Museum, Waldron Arts Center, and the Art Museum of IU Bloomington to bridge the gap better with the local community.
