Friday, Nov. 4 at 5 p.m.—BRANDON—Vermont is a special place in its seasonal transformations. As the golden leaves are falling to reveal the true form of trees and mountains, the Brandon Artists Guild members are preparing exciting new work in “The Spirit of the Season,” with an emphasis on “My Favorite Things.” This new collection will feature a variety of styles and media including framed original art, gicles, jewelry, wood, clay, mixed media and glass. A collection of handmade ornaments will be available as well. The show will open with a reception on Friday, Nov. 4, 5-7 p.m. It will be on display through Jan. 31.
Contributing artist Christine Holschuh describes her inspiration. “I am always fascinated by that place where abstract becomes ‘real’ and where reality becomes abstract. For this holiday celebration painting I decided to choose ball ornaments as my symbol of seasonal holiday identity, with the illusion of colors of celebration. Rather than representing one tradition, I tried to include colors that reflect the popular holidays in December. Most of us think about the second half of that month as a time for parties, special food, time with family and friends and a time to celebrate the passing of another year. This is what this painting is about.”
Brandon Artists Guild is located at 7 Center Street, Brandon.
The gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information, visit brandonartistsguild.org.
