Saturday, Oct. 8 at 6:30 p.m.—HUBBARDTON—The Green Mountain Alliance of Amateur Astronomers are offering one more astronomy program at the Hubbardton Battlefield State Historic Site in Hubbardton, Saturday, Oct. 8 from 6:30-10:30 p.m.
Members of the Alliance will set up their telescopes to share with participants. Explore the night sky and see close-up the stars and planets. If the weather is inclement, enjoy an inside program with exciting images of space.
Bring blankets, flashlights, and if available, binoculars or telescopes. The Hubbardton Battlefield has little modern light pollution and a sweeping open sky, and is the perfect spot to observe the heavens.
Admission is by donation. All ages are welcome—stay up late to see the show in the night sky. Call ahead, at 802-273-2282, to confirm if the program is outside or inside.
The battlefield is the site of the only Revolutionary War battle fought in Vermont. It is located in Hubbardton on Monument Hill Road, seven miles north of US Route 4 from Castleton or six miles east of VT Route 30 in Hubbardton. The site is open Thursdays through Sundays. The last regular day of the season is Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 10.
