Family fun
Beginning on Friday, Sept. 30, Rutland Regional will be once again welcoming elementary school students from the region to participate in this second of the four seasonal outdoor events near the hospital as part of the 802Go! Family Fun in the Great Outdoors initiative. This past June, students planted sunflowers and pumpkins in a green space on the west side of the hospital’s main campus within the recreational path called The Loop. On Sept. 30, the students will return to enjoy the approximately 1.5 acres of pumpkins and sunflowers that are now growing and thriving. The students will take part in various 45-minute activities facilitated by volunteers from all partnering organizations. Activities, some under a tent and others just outside the tent, include creating bird feeders from sunflowers, art activities with natural leaves, sunflower maze, painting and decorating pumpkins and much more.
On Saturday, during the 802Go!5K race, families can enjoy the same activities that were available to the school children the day before as well as take part in the Kids’ Fun Run, and other festivities relating to the 5K race.
Rutland Regional Medical Center is located at 160 Allen Street, Rutland. For more info, visit rrmc.org.
