Event dovetails with Brewfest weekend
KILLINGTON—The Up & Down Roll returns to Killington Sunday, Oct. 2. The relay-style bike race is a one-of-a-kind event that incorporates three different styles of riding. Teams will consist of a road rider, cross-country rider, and a downhill rider—each competing in a different section of the race. Individual riders are also welcome and encouraged to join in any stretch of the race.
A road racer will trigger the action in a mass start up East Mountain Road (Skyeship Base Area) to K1 Base Area. The roadie will tag their cross-country team member who will ride a series of trails, and then tag their downhill team member; the downhill racer will stop the clock after racing back down to K1. Following the race, all event participants and spectators are invited to join in a critical-mass ride from K1 Base Area to the after party at Sushi Yoshi at 3 p.m.
All proceeds from the Up & Down Roll will support the Killington Community Trail Initiative. The project envisions 15-plus miles of family-friendly mountain bike trails. The system is a collaborative effort between the U.S. Forest Service, Town of Killington, Killington Mountain Bike Club, and the Vermont Mountain Bike Association.

Brewfest weekend
Also being held that weekend is Killington Resort’s annual Brewfest. A sold-out Brewfest golf tournament kicks off the weekend Friday at 3 p.m., followed by the main event on Saturday. Wet your whistle against a backdrop of 4,241 feet of Vermont’s finest autumn foliage and enjoy live music, a plethora of fabulous food offerings and over 100 of the finest craft beers in the region.
Brewfest is one of Killington’s most distinctive annual celebrations. They’ve expanded the event to include Snowshed & Ramshead Base Lodges, allowing more activities, more food and more beer.
A Brewer’s Brunch starts the day from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Killington Grand Hotel. The tasting sessions follow from 1-5 p.m. featuring samples of the finest brews in New England during the pinnacle of fall foliage. Upgrade to the VIP package for early access plus an official t-shirt. Entertainment will also be flowing aplenty with all-day performances by Joey Leone in the Snowshed Resort Center; Tony Lee Thomas in Ramshead Lodge; and Steve Makes & the Electric Flood in Snowshed’s Long Trail Pub.
Tickets are $35-$55, first come, first served. Designated drivers are admitted for just $10. Tickets include a commemorative drinking glass, eight beer sampling tickets, over 100 brews to sample and live music on three stages. Extra sampling tickets will be available for purchase on-site. Participants must be at least age 21 with a valid ID. Shuttle buses will be available—please drink responsibly!
