The Bus recognizes Bergeron for her volunteerism

Marble Valley Regional Transit District (The Bus) would like to recognize Emma L. Bergeron for her many years of service as a volunteer driver. Bergeron has been a volunteer driver for The Bus for the past 16 years.
She lives in Rutland and graduated from West Rutland High School. She worked for nine years in Middlebury and, unfortunately, became disabled and unable to work due to several surgeries.
Bergeron enjoys helping people so she decided to volunteer her time to drive passengers for The Bus. She volunteers five days a week and uses her own vehicle to transport people to appointments.
Bergeron has made many friends over the years at The Bus and many passengers request her to be their driver. When Bergeron is not volunteering her time, she enjoys spending time with her family. She has two children, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. She likes to stay active and does this by dancing to country western music.
When asked why she volunteers, she stated “This is very rewarding, I have met so many nice people and I hope to continue volunteering as long as I can. These people need me.”
MVRTD’s volunteer program would not be able continue without people like Emma Bergeron. Many neighbors, friends or families are dependent on others for rides to necessary medical appointments as well as other transportation needs. Volunteer drivers play an important role in aiding these individuals. Whether it is taking a patient to a dialysis appointment or to a medical facility in Boston or New Hampshire.
