Killington Resort and Pico Mountain announce new hires, promotions

Rich McCoy to lead Pico; KSRM grad Jordan Spear to manage marketing
KILLINGTON—On Friday, Sept. 9, Killington Resort announced the hiring of talented leaders to fill positions ahead of the 2016-17 winter season at Killington Resort and Pico Mountain. Two key roles have been filled through internal promotions, including director of operations at Pico Mountain and marketing manager for Killington and Pico.
Rich McCoy takes the helm at Pico Mountain this winter as director of operations, and he will continue in his summer role at Killington where he has overseen revenue management of the Mountain Bike Park and Adventure Center over the last five years. McCoy joined the Killington team in 1999 as an already accomplished manager of retail sporting goods stores and has demonstrated his ability to build a cohesive team across departments to provide a variety of services.
“At the Route 4 Killington Sports store, Rich pulled together a horizontally integrated system to provide a variety of services in an effective way, from ticket sales to rentals to third party retail vendors, while also serving as the de facto welcome center for guests arriving to town,” said Mike Solimano, president and general manager of Killington Resort and Pico Mountain. “Rich has shown time and time again that he can surpass expectations, and will report directly to me as a member of the Killington executive team.”
Jordan Spear graduated from Green Mountain College’s Killington School of Resort Management (KSRM) in 2009 and has recently been promoted from ticket and guest services manager to marketing manager. Over the past four years, Spear has held various management roles in the tickets and guest services department, along with management of the Pico Sports Center. Originally from Sodus Point, N.Y., Spear currently resides in Killington, spending winters snowboarding and summers mountain biking with his dog Hailey.
“As a graduate of the KSRM program, Jordan has developed a well-rounded understanding of the entire resort experience through his direct interaction with guests. He understands how our guests interface with our resort and he will bring a practical operational perspective to the role of marketing manager,” said Rob Megnin, director of sales and marketing for Killington and Pico.
Additionally, Gary Laperle joins Killington Resort as information technology manager, bringing with him over 16 years of experience including positions held in the resort, banking, communications and printing industries. Originally from Barre, Vt., Laperle now resides in Woodstock with his wife Jessica and kids Harrison and Gracie, a “huge dog” named Norm, 10 chickens, a tortoise and two fish. Laperle is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys skiing, fishing, hunting and playing and coaching hockey.
“Gary will be creating the culture where people and systems are operating in tandem to showcase the best that both have to offer,” said Matt Kinsman, director of finance for Killington and Pico.
