Okemo introduces Sunburst Six Summit chairlift rides

LUDLOW—Okemo Mountain Resort has begun running its Sunburst Six for scenic chairlift rides to the summit every weekend through Columbus Day. These flying sofas that seat up to six passengers offer a smooth and quiet ride with a unique perspective of the mountain landscape, never before seen in the summer and fall.
The Sunburst Six will operate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 9. Scenic chairlift rides will also be available on Labor Day, Monday Sept. 5, and Monday Oct. 10 of Columbus Day weekend. The ride each way is about 10 minutes long.
Guests may spend as much time as they like exploring the summit area before riding the lift back down. Okemo’s historic fire tower is a short hike away from the top terminal—and worth the effort. Several flights of stairs lead to an observation deck that affords a 360-degree view. Visitors may also hike down the mountain rather than take the return trip on the Sunburst Six.
Round-trip tickets are priced at $15 per rider, and children 6 and younger ride for free. There is no discount for one-way lift rides. A Family Four-Pack is offered for $50. Guests who purchase an Okemo Adventure Zone wristband on weekend days when the summit chairlift is operating can use their lift-ride ticket for the Sunburst Six rather than the Base Quad. Okemo season passholders who have purchased their 2016/2017 pass can ride for $7. Lift access cards will not be required for passholders; ticket-window personnel will have the names of those eligible for the discounted rate.
Guests can purchase scenic lift ride tickets at the ticket window located at the base of the Sunburst Six. Access is available via Mountain Road, which is open to vehicles during the summer and fall. On-site parking is available.
For more information, visit okemo.com or call 802-228-1600.

What’s that orange glow in the distance? Okemo’s Sunburst Six chairlifts now offer “off-season” scenic rides! The bubble chairs stand out even more when the background is white.
