Motorcyclist dies after high speed crash

WEATHERSFIELD—On Aug. 24, 2016, at approximately 9:29 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to a single motorcycle crash on Weathersfield Center Road, in the town of Weathersfield, Vt. Upon investigation police reported that a Weathersfield police officer had attempted to stop, Nathaniel Watkins, who was driving a 2005 Honda Shadow Motorcycle, for a speeding violation.
The motorcycle had been traveling north on Weathersfield Center Road at a high rate of speed and had failed to navigate a sharp right curve, traveling off the west side of the road and into a field.
The operator was subsequently ejected and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The motorcycle sustained moderate damage. The investigation is ongoing.
