Snowmobilers hold annual meeting, antique sled show, and golf tournament

Saturday, Aug. 20 at 8 a.m.—KILLINGTON—This coming Saturday, Aug. 20 the V.A.S.T. (Vermont Association of Snow Travelers) annual meeting will be held at the Killington Grand Hotel in Killington, hosted by Rutland County clubs. The meeting will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Vendors, groomers, entertainment, 50/50 raffle, and silent auction will be held in addition to the antique sled display area.

To coincide with this year’s meeting, an antique snowmobile show is being sponsored by the Shrewsbury Sno-Birds. This show will have some truly rare pieces including a 1915 Model T snowmobile, a 1948 Bombardier B-12 Snow-Coach and a 1960 Ski-Doo tin cab, one of only 225 ever produced that year. The show will start at 8 a.m. and run until 5 p.m. and is being held in a large tent beside the parking lot at the Killington Grand Hotel. The event is free for all and open to the public. Come and enjoy the numerous vintage sleds and talk to the owners of these magnificent machines and learn about the early history of snow travel.

To participate, email fuccico@comcast.net and advise how many sleds you will be bringing and if you are bringing a camper. Lodging is also available at the Killington Grand (mention you’re with VAST for discount).

Also in accordance is a golf tournament the day before, Aug. 19, at Green Mountain National Golf Course. The Mount Holly Snow Flyers are planning the tournament. Cost per player is$95 which includes green fees, cart, and meal to follow. There will be contests with prizes, raffles, and 50/50s.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Make A Wish and Vermont Achievement Center.
