Sunday, Aug. 7 at 4 p.m.—ROCHESTER—The Rochester Chamber Music Society in association with the Vermont Festival of the Arts will close the RCMS summer series with returning guest artists and Boston musicians Vanessa Holroyd and Katherine Winterstein. They will be accompanied by Cynthia Huard on piano, Sunday, Aug. 7 at 4 p.m. at the Federated Church on Main Street in Rochester. The Sunday program will include Telemann, Bach’s Trio Sonata in G major, a Nino Rota Trio, and Martinů.
Vanessa Holroyd regularly performs as principal flute with the Orchestra of Emmanuel Music and enjoys an active freelance career in the Boston area with a focus on chamber music. She is a member of Arcadian Winds, a Boston-based woodwind quintet specializing in contemporary music. She serves as concert series manager and concert tour director for Phillips Exeter Academy and coaches chamber music and orchestra sectionals for the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra.
Violinist Katherine Winterstein is concertmaster of the Vermont Symphony and has been a member of the performance faculty of Middlebury College in Vermont since 2002. She enjoys a wide range of musical endeavors as a chamber musician, orchestral musician, soloist, and teacher. She has performed on numerous concert series. She is a member of the Hartt String Quartet, and additionally appears regularly with other chamber groups and ensembles. Ms. Winterstein plays on a 1779 J.B. Guadagnini violin.
Cynthia Huard, artistic director of the Rochester Chamber Music Society and affiliate artist at Middlebury College, where she coaches young singers, directs music for baroque chamber operas, and teaches piano and music theory. She has performed with well-known quartets and the chamber players of the Philadelphia Orchestra, the National Symphony, the Toronto Symphony, and the Boston Symphony. In addition to performing chamber music repertoire, she has been a guest on National Public Radio, Vermont Public Radio and national public television and has appeared as a featured performer with the Vermont Symphony Orchestra. Most recently she was featured at the Middlebury Bach Festival as concerto soloist and guest lecturer.
