Passing motorcycle causes two-car crash

EAST WALLINGFORD—On July 24 at 2:15 p.m., Vermont State Police responded to a two vehicle crash on Route 103 in East Wallingford.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Anton Shroeder, age 53 of Ludlow, was traveling south on Route 103 on his Harley Davidson motorcycle when he crossed the center line in an attempt to pass the tractor trailer ahead of him. Meanwhile, Carol Ross, age 61 of Fair Haven, was traveling northbound in her Honda Civic. Shroeder’s motorcycle collided with the rear fender of Ross’s Civic.

Upon contact, Shroeder lost control of the motorcycle and traveled off the northbound travel portion of the roadway and into a wooded area. Ross applied the brakes, but was unable to avoid the collision and as a result of her attempt to avoid Shroeder, her vehicle also left the northbound travel portion of the roadway.

Both operators were transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for medical examination. Shroeder’s injuries are unknown as they were not reported. Ross’s injuries consisted of soreness and possible neck injury, police reported.

Both vehicles were removed by a local tow service.

The Vermont State Police were assisted by members of the Mount Holly Fire Department/Rescue Squad and the Shrewsbury Fire Department/Rescue Squad.
