Thursday, July 21 at 6 p.m.—RUTLAND—Christ the King School and Mount Saint Joseph Academy will hold their eighth annual Honor Our Past event at the Rutland Holiday Inn on July 21. The cocktail hour begins at 6 p.m. with a cash bar, and dinner will be at 7 p.m.
Over the years, the Honor Our Past event has raised tens of thousands of dollars for scholarships for MSJ and CKS students. It has also turned out to be a grand reunion for supporters of the schools.
This year’s honorees are Peter Giancola (’84), Pauline Hackett, and Greg McClallen (’61). There will also be a special acknowledgment of Father Justin Baker.
Peter Giancola (MSJ ‘84), is a successful businessman and engineer, as well as a parent of four children in Rutland Catholic Schools. He served as the Rutland Catholic Schools board chair for several years, and currently serves as vice-chair of the MSJ school board. He has donated countless hours to the schools.
Pauline Hackett was a beloved teacher at Christ the King School for many years and currently volunteers on the CKS Board. She made a difference in the lives of many Christ the King students in her role as a teacher. She has also been an active CKS and MSJ parent, and served on the MSJ School Board.
Greg McClallen (MSJ ‘61) had a storied and successful career as a teacher, ski coach, and cross country coach. He won countless state championships and was a founder of the Rutland Howe Center campus. He has been a CKS and MSJ parent, is currently a CKS and MSJ grandparent, and has always been an instrumental supporter of both schools.
Father Justin Baker has gone above and beyond to serve the Rutland Catholic Schools community over the past eight years. He has served on both schools’ boards, and has also been a regular presence at both schools, providing much appreciated spiritual guidance to the schools’ students. He is leaving his role as pastor of Christ the King Parish to become the pastor of Saint Michael’s Parish in Brattleboro, and will be missed.
To attend, contact the MSJ Development Office by emailing kbove@msjvermont.org. Tickets are $75 per person or a table of 10 for $750. Raffle tickets are available for $20 each, or may be purchased six for $100; one need not be in attendance to win.
