Passport program encourages readers to tour libraries across Vermont

This summer from June 1 to Sept. 1, over 100 Vermont public and academic libraries will be handing out passports in the second annual Passport to Vermont Libraries program, encouraging patrons to visit some of Vermont’s unique, beautiful and creative libraries:  “So many towns have interesting libraries that reflect the unique nature of their communities” said Virgil Fuller Vermont Libraries Association past president and second generation librarian and director of Chelsea Public Library. “As librarians, we want to share our love of libraries with all Vermonters.”

Local libraries will offer passport stamps and small prizes. Three patrons statewide (adult, young adult, child) will receive Vermont Library Ambassador awards for visiting the most libraries. New this year is a special award for the librarian who visits the most Vermont libraries.

The Vermont Library Association is an educational organization working to develop, promote, and improve library and information services and librarianship in the state of Vermont.
Patrons are encouraged to post pictures and stories on the VLA’s facebook page: facebook.com/vermontpassport. More details about the program are available at vermontlibraries.org/passport
