Ludlow to dedicate Good Neighbor building to benefactor

LUDLOW—The town of Ludlow will honor in perpetuity the town’s recent benefactors Phyllis Agan and her late husband William for their many years of generous service to the town. To that end, the town will dedicate the building adjacent to the community center to their memories with a dedication ceremony on June 14 at 10 a.m. The ceremony will be held at the building that now bears their names–37B Main Street, which houses the LPC-TV studios and the Black River Good Neighbor food shelf and thrift store. All members of the community are invited to the dedication ceremony.

When Phyllis Agan died her money was in a trust. She directed the trust upon her death to distribute well over a million dollars for the direct benefit of the people of Ludlow. Her generosity directly benefited the Town of Ludlow, Black River Academy Museum, Gill Home, Black River Valley Senior Center, Black River Good Neighbors, Ludlow Garden Club, United Church, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Annunciation Church, Masons, Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, and Rotary Club.

Although Ludlow celebrates Mrs. Agan for that act of generosity, equally important are the many, many acts by William and Phyllis Agan who spent their entire adult lives working for innumerable charitable causes within many organizations with deep roots in Ludlow.

It is to celebrate the lives of these upstanding citizens that the citizens of Ludlow, through the Ludlow Select Board, dedicate the building to the memory of William and Phyllis Agan. It is appropriate to dedicate the Black River Good Neighbor Services building because Phyllis Agan was personally involved with this organization and its predecessors. For additional information about the ceremony, please call Audrey Bridge at (802) 228-3663.
