RUTLAND TOWN —  Rutland Town School kindergarden and pre-K students participated in bully prevention and healthy bodies programs through the nonprofit Puppets in Education (PiE), which received a third year of funding from Alderman’s Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac. The program took place, Wednesday, May 11. Rutland Town School students learned important skills about how to stand up for oneself, how to be a caring bystander and how to make healthy choices. The students gave helpful advice to the puppets and shared admissions of bullying experiences. The puppets gave tips and tools on how to stop bullying behavior and to build empathy.

Puppets in Education is in its 34th year serving over 11,000 children and adults annually. PiE began as Kids on the Block-Vermont in 1982 with four puppets and has now grown to deliver 23 programs addressing many societal concerns, including bullying, abuse, childhood obesity, mental health, drug use and other topics.
